Christian Science
Christian Science is a religion based on the words and works of Christ Jesus. It draws its authority from the Bible and its teachings are set forth in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures
by Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science. The First Church of Christ, Scientist in Boston, Massachusetts was founded in 1879 and has now many worldwide branches.
Although a distinctive part of Christian Science is the healing of disease by spiritual means alone, its higher purpose is to know God and His creation as wholly spiritual which results in
harmonious, stress-free life experiences.
Apart from the Christian Science Quarterly with the weekly Bible Lessons, the Christian Science Publishing Society in Boston, Mass. publishes:
- a weekly magazine - the Christian Science Sentinel
- the monthly Christian Science Journal and
- the Herald of Christian Science (monthly) in many languages.
- the Christian Science Monitor is available online and as a weekly print edition, sold in our Reading Room.
